Marla Bingham

Marla Bingham, former principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, was introduced 40 years ago to Pilates as part of her professional dance training in New York. After a noted international career as a performer, choreographer and dance master teacher, Marla Bingham has focused for the past fifteen years on expanding her understanding of the mind-body connection and of  movement-based therapeutic exercises through Pilates and through the GYROTONIC®  method. Marla is a GYROTONIC® Certified Instructor. She is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Instructor and has been influenced by both the East Coast and West Coast styles of Pilates and modifications.

Marla opened the Marla Bingham Studio in La Jolla in 2004 to provide equipment-based body conditioning for clients of all ages seeking the long-term health benefits of Pilates and of the GYROTONIC®  method. Over the years she has developed a strong relationship with a number of very loyal clients who can count on her knowledge, her empathy as well as her constantly renewed enthusiasm and her individualized approach.

Marla is a guest teacher of the prestigious Crystal Cruises, where - for a few weeks a year– she combines her passion for travelling with her teaching  of Pilates and  Zumba,  another modality she is certified in.
